Black Lives Matter

A conversation on race

Supporting Our Black Communities

Over the last few days, we have taken a moment to pause, listen and process the enormity of what’s happening in the United States, taking stock of ourselves, our company and our society at large.

The tragic death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis, is heartbreaking and enraging. It is certainly not an isolated incident. Along with the killing of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, and many others that have gone unnoticed and ignored over decades, it has shined a spotlight on an institutionalized racism that must be stamped out.

We must not let that spotlight dim, but to continue illuminating these social evils – and not to let anyone hide in the shadows. We unequivocally state Black Lives Matter.
Racism has no place within Airpop Media.

Right now, our priority is to our people, ensuring they are safe, supported and aware of the steps we are taking to empower our Black communities around the world. This week we have taken valuable time to listen to our colleagues in India and globally, to facilitate open discussions and to address their most pressing concerns.

One thing is clear; there is a lot more we can and should be doing. We are committed to being a catalyst for change. This change must be holistic, sustainable and long-term. It must be profound and all-encompassing, not tokenistic or attention-seeking.
Know that we are working through the machinations of this change every day and we are wholly focused on creating a more diverse, inclusive and representative environment at every level of our organization.

We must not lose sight of the fact that these devastating events have provided us all with an opportunity to create systemic change. We at Airpop Media cannot and shall not let go to waste.

We recognize that our journey towards becoming a more diverse organization that amplifies the voices of the Black communities will be hard. We accept that we will make mistakes along the way. We know that we don’t have all the answers, but we are committed to asking the difficult questions; of ourselves, our clients and our partners.
Over the coming weeks and months, the conversation around racism may shift.
Our focus will not.

We are committed to building a better normal.
